Torino part 1
It has been a pretty long time since I posted something here, but that doesn’t mean that I have nothing to say, on the contrary – I have a lot of memories left, and a lot more pictures to show!
So, back to business!
My last month in Italy was spent travelling, I have been to Turin (Torino), a wonderful city in the Northern part of the country. This place is amazing, I have been to a couple of museums, took a grand walking tour around the city, had a wonderful time. One place that impressed me a lot was the museum of cars, called – Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile.
The building is huge and quite impressive. I’m not an arts person, so I couldn’t possibly describe it’s architectural qualities, but I was impressed :) And it has 3 floors of cars, that’s just cool.
The exhibition starts with demonstrating first attempts of making a vehicle that doesn’t require any additional sources to move, like horses. And every exhibit is illustrated with some video projections or other kind of funny installations.
Another interesting car, that for some unknown reason was in the middle of these “ancient” devices – sort of a racing car but equipped with solar batteries. Unfortunately up to this point this car is absolutely fictional (at least a racing car type), but I truly hope that someday we will be able to stop using fuel.
Then we are moving on to a hall called “The garage of the future”, where some more advanced cars are exhibited along with a repair room that has a lot of interesting things there. Well, for us this future is already in a past tense, but these cars fascinate me. I would love to have a car like that, even though I don’t have driving licence. :)
So, next room is a paradise! These cars are like a dream that is more real – they still exist, they are drivable, they are awesome! I had my jar somewhere on the floor for an entire tour through this room, I wanted to touch all of the cars, I wished a had a chance to get in and try one out, surely it wasn’t going to happen, but one’s allowed to dream, right?
In addition to all this beauty, some of the cars are placed in between decorations, the level of creativity is amazing, it gives one observing a perspective of a time a certain car is from, or a purpose it used to serve.
Next hall is even more crazy – it’s like “what else can a car be? Whatever you want it to!” A true car fan would be so happy here!
And the future of a car, not always bright and shiny, but it’s all in our hands. As I read in a description of this exhibit – it states that everything comes to an end, nature absorbs everything, but making a car, that is not recyclable is not right, we should respect nature, not do harm to it, so make cars that can be recycled, that don’t use fuel, and etc.
And now what’s inside of a car!
A racing type of a car has it’s own special place in the museum.
And a crash test!
And for desert – miniatures staring cars :)
It was an amazing trip, this museum impressed me a lot, I mean – it’s huge, creative, you don’t get bored for even a second, you can spend hours in there and the time flies!
My recommendation – don’t miss it!
